ANSWER TO TODAY’S WORDLE

What is the Wordle solution for today’s game 816?

Please start a drumroll; it is CLEAR.

Greetings, Wordlers. The five characters in today’s puzzle are all among the ten most frequent Wordle letters, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble solving it.

As it incorporates the five most popular, ORATE, my choice for the top Wordle start words, was very successful. Today, it immediately turned the letters ‘R’, ‘A’, and ‘E’ yellow, leaving 79 potential answers.

But it wasn’t as successful as some of WordleBot’s other recommendations. There are nine viable solutions for SLATE, nine for PLANE, and eight for PLATE. This is reduced to five by LANCE and CLONE, and if you played CLEAT, just two solutions would be left.

The following most popular characters (‘L’, ‘I’, ‘S’, ‘N’, and ‘C’) were something I wanted to introduce when mixing up my confirmed letters.

RECAP worked as intended, and it was incredibly fortunate to disclose a new yellow letter (‘C’) while making the letter ‘A’ green. That indicated to WordleBot that there was only one feasible solution left.

It also didn’t take me very long to find it. ‘E’ had to take up first or third place, while ‘R’ had to take the last or third seat. I discovered I could add CL to the beginning to spell CLEAR by combining those with my fixed “A,” which together made the word “ear.”

I entered it, and in three moves, I had won the game.

I hope you Wordlers did equally well today. I’ll see you then.

THE SOLUTION TO TODAY’S WORDLE

You’re viewing this at a later time. WHISK was the Wordle solution for puzzle game 815.

Greetings, Wordlers. The puzzle for today isn’t too difficult, despite not featuring any of the five most typical Wordle letters. It’s not a strange word, particularly if you enjoy cooking.

Naturally, the absence of familiar words rendered my starter, ORATE, absolutely useless. I had to sort through a whopping 256 possible responses once all five letters turned gray.

However, there were a couple that were significantly better than that. To be fair, the majority of WordleBot’s greatest Wordle start words also left a triple-figure number of possibilities. LEAST reduces the number of solutions from 64 left by SLATE to 32. Only five possibilities would be available to you if you were fortunate enough to play SHALT.

I didn’t have a single green or yellow letter left from my initial turn, therefore I required a word with both of the remaining vowels. In addition to doing that, music also incorporated the letters “C” and “S.”

It turned the letters “S” and “I” yellow and left 20 options, so it seemed to function quite well.

I reasoned that ‘Y’ could serve as a substitute for the single vowel, and I also wanted to attempt ‘L’ as the sixth most common letter. SILKY tried both, but neither letter appeared.

But when ‘K’ turned yellow, I knew I had three confirmed letters and the task was finally over.

I searched for potential pairs of starting letters since the ‘I’ was ruled out of the second slot and highly unlikely to be first or last. WH wasn’t impossibly impossible, unlike ST, CH, QU, and SH.

I entered WHISK since it seemed like a very likely possibility and celebrated a four-turn victory. WordleBot informs me that another possibility, which I would have never guessed with twice as many rounds, was KNISH.

Wordlers, I hope you did well today. I’ll see you then.

Wordle #801:

Use one of the top Wordle start words, in my opinion, is the greatest advice. It makes a huge impact, and I can’t emphasize that enough.

Without one, you’ll be fumbling about in the dark trying to discover the five (or potentially fewer) correct letters out of the possible 26 while possibly failing. However, bright individuals (not me) have done the calculations and determined the ideal start words based on frequency in both English and Wordle replies. Use them then!

Second, consider combinations, particularly at the beginning and end. Some possibilities are far more prevalent than others; SH, ST, CR, and CH all show up regularly, for example.

Vowels obviously need to be taken into account as well; while many Wordle responses contain more than one vowel, some even have three. If they are absent from a solid Wordle start word, you may wish to try another one or two on your subsequent attempts. Additionally, keep in mind the Y, which can substitute for a vowel in some cases and is simple to overlook. Numerous words also have it at the end of them.

Finally, explore your options. You can try different responses to see how they appear on the screen as long as you don’t hit “Enter.” Put in the likely letters along with any that you are certain are present in the term, then mentally switch from one to the other choices. This method has helped me numerous times, and it is especially useful when the term in issue is obscure (such as FJORD or ISLET).

WORDLE: WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Wordle began operations in June of that year, however its formal launch didn’t occur until October of that year. On June 19, 2022, Wordle celebrated its first birthday. (You can see my thoughts on the five areas Wordle needs to work on if it wants us to continue using it after the third year.)

However, as the year came to a close, its appeal only rose, and in January, when people began to realize it, it went viral. In fact, Wordle was so popular that The New York Times purchased it in early February for a seven-figure price and added it to its gaming collection, NYT Games.

It can be played for free here on the NYT Games website. The game will continue to be free, according to both the New York Times and Josh Wardle, who made it. Some claim that Wordle has become more difficult since the NYT took control, but this is untrue.

The goal of the straightforward game Wordle is to correctly predict a five-letter word in six tries. When you guess, you are informed which letters you selected and whether they were placed correctly in the final word.

A letter changes to green if it is in the proper location. It turns yellow if it’s in the word but in the wrong position. It also turns gray if the term doesn’t contain it at all.

Everybody solves the same puzzle each day, and there is only one. Every day at midnight, it starts over. More details about the game can be found in our article, What Is Wordle?
