The ability to hear in complete darkness is a pretty big challenge. It usually starts with the inability to isolate our ears from our surroundings when we are awake. Then there is the constant shifting of our sense organs and our brain itself. We are constantly changing our state of awareness and being aware of our surroundings; this can be especially challenging when you are in a dark room.
Well, for some people that difficulty can seem trivial. In those cases, not being able to hear your surroundings in complete darkness can be a complete handicap. For us, that handicap is often less a problem than the fact that we have to work around the issue. In our case, for a long time we have been able to keep the lights on and only have to be aware of our surroundings when we are awake.
That said, lucid hearing can be tricky. If you lose your awareness of your surroundings, your ability to hear sounds can cause you to hear them and not notice the noise. In some cases, it can be a very serious problem, as it can be a sign that your brain no longer has an awareness of your surroundings. It is possible that you could be aware of a sound (be it your own voice or someone else’s) but not notice the absence of it best hearing aids.
